In All These Things
When you consider the context of being more than a conqueror, you see that the apostle Paul is referring to the sufferings Christians may be called to endure, not simply the everyday life of the believer. While it has always existed in this world, hostility toward God and toward those who follow Jesus has increased over time in the United States. Some outlets have even referred to believers as “dangerous“ or “full of hate.“ The Lord provides the courage to overcome the emotional pain of such accusations. But how will you respond if the types of physical and spiritual tribulations, hardships, or difficulties that Paul dealt with come into your life? Scripture shows that, as the End Times draw closer, persecution will expand. “Conquering,“ in this context, begins with a mind fixed on Jesus and a reliance on the promises of God. “Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed… for the battle is not yours but God’s. … Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf” (2 Chronicles 20:15, 17). The Lord is making you an overcomer!
